Abstract In response to requests from safety and health professionals and occupational physicians for advice on stress management within the enterprise, the INRS developed a method for the identification of groups of persons exposed to stress and the main factors likely to be the cause of stress. This article describes the development of the diagnostic method and its trial implementation in three establishments. The four stages of the method involve: project implementation, analysis of the structure and function of the enterprise, questionnaire survey of workers and presentation of results of the project. The diagnosis should be followed by the development and implementation of a plan of action.
