Abstract This report was published in response to a request from the United Kingdom Energy Ministry for a review of the potential occupational safety and health risks that might arise from some specific energy developments. It covers safety and health issues associated with natural gas storage, carbon capture and storage, renewable energy sources, distributed generation, nuclear power stations and cleaner coal technologies. The report concludes that the existing safety and health system of the United Kingdom is flexible enough to deal with possible hazards related to energy developments and to achieve sensible risk management.
