Abstract This guide provides practical ideas to support occupational safety and health professionals and employers in the improvement of health and well-being in the workplace. For each of the following eight key areas it suggests five simple steps that can make a real difference to the organization and the people working in it: creating a safe and healthy workplace; recruitment, retention and rehabilitation; mental well-being and minimizing stress; musculoskeletal disorders; tobacco smoke and smoking cessation; alcohol and other substance misuse; physical activity; healthy eating.
