Abstract This Act provides for the establishment of a national Authority responsible for ensuring that the physical, psychological and social well-being of all workers in all workplaces are promoted and safeguarded, and that all relevant legal provisions are respected. The Authority will function as the national OSH inspectorate. The Act also specifies that it is the obligation of the employer to ensure the health and safety of all persons who may be affected by the work being carried out. The Occupational Health and Safety (Promotion) Act, 1994 (CIS 96-1532) is repealed.
