Abstract This booklet presents the syllabus and requirements of a national training programme leading to a national qualification in occupational safety and health in the construction sector in the United Kingdom. The programme is aimed at site managers, planning supervisors and workers' representatives. It is based on risk management approaches that take into account standards and best practices in the United Kingdom, including the HSE guideline entitled "Successful Health and Safety Management" (HSG65, see CIS 01-48).
