Abstract In agriculture, back, neck and limb disorders are the most common types of ill health. Many of the injuries are caused by poor manual handling practices. This booklet describes some of the practical measures that farmers can adopt to reduce the likelihood of suffering from back or muscle disorders. Examples are provided for the following farming tasks: handling spare tractor wheels; handling bagged products; lifting chemical and oil containers; handling of animals; sheep shearing; bale handling. Replaces CIS 00-1579.
