Abstract More than 94,000 persons are directly employed in the floriculture sector in Colombia, which also accounts for approximately a further 80,000 indirect jobs. This collection of articles addresses the current situation with respect to occupational safety and health in the floriculture sector. Contents: social development statistics; the Colombian floriculture sector as an example of good practice for ensuring workers' well-being; quality control and environmental management; the Florverde programme aimed at implementing an efficient environmental management system in flower production; working safely at height; personal protection programmes in the floriculture sector.
