Abstract This article explains how safety audits can contribute towards the development of a safety culture within an enterprise. It discusses the attitudes of company senior management to audits, the use of computerized audit systems, the various audit standards such as HSG65 and OHSAS 18000, the selection of an audit tool that is adapted to the conditions of the enterprise and the importance of the resulting action plan.
