Title Cold storage warehouses: Doing everything to prevent fire
Original title Entrepôts frigorifiques: tout pour éviter l'incendie [in French]
Bibliographic information Oct. 2005, No.416, p.23-26. Illus.
Abstract Cold storage warehouses are vulnerable to fire since they contain large quantities of insulating material such as synthetic foams, packaging materials such as corrugated cardboard and expanded polystyrene, and stored goods that are often themselves flammable. Fires are often due to electrical short-circuits caused by icing. This article identifies the main causes of fires in cold storage warehouses, together with the means of prevention or damage control (detection systems, sprinklers, use of non-flammable insulating materials such as foamed glass).
