Abstract Internet page dedicated to the detailed description of the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code, which was developed as a uniform international code for the transport of dangerous goods by sea. It covers: classification of dangerous substances; packing and tank provisions; consignment procedures; construction and testing of packagings, portable tanks and road tank vehicles; transport operations. A supplement contains information on related topics, including medical first aid, reporting procedures and the safe use of pesticides. The IMDG Code is mandatory as from 1 January 2004.
