Abstract This project consists of a critical analysis of literature on the relationship between the development of kidney tumours and fire-fighting. Based on limited evidence, results indicate that kidney tumours may be linked to occupational exposures to contaminants among firefighters having more than 20 years of employment. Genetic characteristics and lifestyles may also be involved.
