Abstract This report describes a programme of work undertaken to consider whether the body size criteria in standards which are used to test the safety of personal protective equipment (PPE) need revision. It describes the methodology used to obtain a selection of anthropometric data from a sample of 589 people who worked at height, in order to accurately establish whether the dimensions and requirements of PPE test apparatus need reviewing. Recommendations are made for the modification of some standards.
