Title A survey of OSH programs and courses offered by Australian universities
Bibliographic information Oct.2004, Vol.20, No.5, p.445-457. Illus. 21 ref.
Abstract The purpose of this investigation was to look into the current status of OHS education in Australian tertiary institutions by analysing the scope and depth of the OHS programmes and courses being offered, as assessed from the institutions' websites. This analysis found that many universities have instituted OHS programmes that include training certificates and diplomas, bachelor degrees and research degrees at the master and doctorate level. While many OHS programmes are of a generalist type, some are designed for specific areas of OHS practice, such as occupational hygiene or occupational medicine. Furthermore, the number of universities offering OHS courses is steadily increasing because of the high demand for professional OHS practitioners.
