Abstract For the European Week for Safety and Health at Work 2003, the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work is producing a series of fact sheets focusing on the communication of occupational safety and health-related information on dangerous substances. Respiratory sensitizers are biological and chemical agents that can induce allergic respiratory diseases in humans. This fact sheet discusses important characteristics of the exposure to these agents and appropriate prevention measures. Contents: causes of occupational respiratory problems; allergic respiratory diseases; allergic sensitizers; managing respiratory sensitizers.
