Abstract	Fishing is among the most dangerous occupations. Risks of accidents are 2.4 times higher than the all-sector European Union average. Strenuous working conditions coupled with long and irregular work schedules increase the scope, the likelihood and the severity of occupational accidents and diseases. By means of a hazard evaluation and preventive measures, the objective of this fact sheet is to help persons responsible for occupational safety and health achieve a reduction in the hazards faced by workers in this dangerous sector of activity.
