Abstract In the construction sector in Singapore, 47 workers had occupational skin problems during 2001 and 31 during 2002. This information sheet provides basic guidance on the prevention of skin rashes caused by cement, epoxy resins, thinners, fibreglass and oil. The responsibilities of supervisors and managers with respect to the supply of personal protective equipment, providing washing facilities, ensuring safe work practices and informing workers of the hazards of working with cement, are highlighted.
