Abstract This code of practice, developed jointly by the ILO and the IMO, provides useful guidelines to help reduce the risk to ports from the threat of unlawful acts. It offers a framework for formulating and implementing security strategies and identifying potential risks to a port's security. It is intended to promote a common approach to port security among member States. The measures covered in this code apply to all areas and functions of the port, as well as to persons working in, having business with, requiring access to, or transiting through the port. Practical examples of a port security assessment and a port security plan are included.
