Abstract This document provides a general Approved Code of Practice and guidance on the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR) (see CIS 03-1035). DSEAR sets minimum requirements for the protection of workers from fire and explosion risks related to dangerous substances and potentially explosive atmospheres. The key requirements in DSEAR are that risks from dangerous substances are assessed and eliminated or reduced. The regulations revokes, repeals or modifies a large amount of old legislation relating to flammable substances and dusts.
