Title A simple and flexible risk assessment method in the work environment
Bibliographic information 2003, Vol.9, No.2, p.219-228. Illus. 10 ref.
Abstract The existing risk assessment models in the work environment based on the BS 8800:1996 standard require the determination of the probability of occurrence and severity of consequences of hazardous factors for the worker. However, determining the probabilities of the influence of hazards such as noise, vibration or chemicals is complicated. This article presents a simple two-step risk assessment method that does not require probabilities to be defined. The model can be extended to include additional steps. An example of the practical implementation of the method applied to the evaluation of the hazards in a large Estonian wood-working enterprise is presented.
