Abstract One of the priorities of the Intergovernmental Forum on Chemical Safety (FISQ) is that each country prepare a national profile for evaluating the capability to manage chemicals at the country level. The Brazilian Commission for chemical safety (CONASQ) has prepared this document which consists of an evaluation of Brazilian infrastructure for the management of chemicals. Contents: the Brazilian information context; production, exports, imports and consumption of products; priority areas of concern with respect to the production, sale and use of chemicals; legal provisions; ministries, commissions and other competent bodies; access to data and databases; technical infrastructure; Brazil in the international chemical safety context; awareness and understanding on the part of workers and the general public. The pack includes a CD-ROM containing various documents in PDF format, in three languages (Portuguese, English and Spanish), in particular the complete profile, as well as two trilingual brochures, one containing the executive summary, the other with information sheets on the institutions that are members of CONASQ.
