Original title Evaluation de l'ambiance thermique dans une entreprise du secteur de la construction métallique [in French]
Bibliographic information Oct. 2003, No.27, p.8-13. 5 ref.
Abstract The objective of this study was to evaluate the thermal environment in a Tunisian enterprise and to recommend measures for improving working conditions. The study was conducted at a manufacturer of aluminium tubes, where the heat sources were the annealing and polymerization ovens. Thermal environment parameters were measured and heat stress was evaluated for the various workplaces within the production area. The following recommendations were made: reduction of time of exposure; installing a refrigerated water fountain at the place of work; information of workers on the hazards related to heat stress and preventive measures; lowering of average radiant heat temperatures by replacing the gas annealing oven by an electric oven; installing an air conditioning system; mechanizing manual handling tasks.
