Abstract This booklet is aimed at employers and persons involved in the buying or leasing of machinery for workplaces. It provides advice on how to reduce noise at the place of work by selecting machinery that is designed and tested to be less noisy. Contents: reasons for buying quieter machinery; legal duties concerning noise and machinery; information that suppliers need to provide or that can be requested from suppliers (noise emission data, installation arrangement, post-installation and maintenance arrangements); steps to implement a noise reduction policy. Replaces the 1997 edition (see CIS 98-907).
