Abstract The Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR) (see CIS 03-1035) are concerned with the protection of workers against fires, explosions and similar events arising from the presence of dangerous substances in he workplace. This approved code of practice on control and mitigation measures is part of a series intended to help enterprises in the implementation of DSEAR. Contents: assessment of risks (release of dangerous substances, ignition sources, separation); elimination or reduction of dangerous substances (ventilation, control of ignition, separation). Appendices define and explain the concepts of "fire resistance" and "fire reaction".
