Abstract This booklet is an update of an earlier version (see CIS 99-1549) which successfully improved safety and health standards in the forestry industry. This revised version also clarifies the roles and tasks in relation to timber haulage to successfully manage safety and health in forestry and associated haulage. Contents: definition of management roles; the landowner role; the forestry work manager role; the contractor role; the subcontractor role. An appendix shows four examples of situations involving different relationships in the contract chain.
