10-12 persons drown each year in public swimming pools in the United Kingdom. Aimed primarily at owners and operators of public swimming pools but also at designers and manufacturers, this booklet provides guidance on the risks associated with swimming pool operation, and on precautions to help achieve a safer environment for both the public who use swimming pools, and employees who work at them. It updates an earlier version (see CIS 89-1237) by taking recent regulations into account. Contents: general management of health and safety; practical aspects of managing health and safety; physical environment; supervision arrangements to safeguard pool users; general maintenance of plant and equipment; pool water treatment system. 10 appendices. |
