Abstract Hazardous chemicals are part of modern fife. While chemicals are generally handled safely, serious accidents in the mid-1980s led the United States Congress to create Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPCs). LEPCs prevent and plan the response to accidental or deliberate chemical incidents. This videotape tells the history behind the creation of LEPCs and the community members who belong to them and explains what LEPCs do to guard the safety of your community.
