Abstract Antineoplastic agents used in cancer treatment are mutagenic, carcinogenic and teratogenic. This article presents the conclusions of a literature review aimed at analysing available test methods for the surveillance of the cancer risk among exposed workers. There is no single preferred test method, and the article discusses the advantages and scope of application of various methods including: determination of the parent compound or its metabolite in a biological media; DNA or protein adducts; urinary mutagenicity; biomarkers; chromosome aberration test; sister-chromatid exchange test, micronuclei test; comet assay.
