Abstract The objective of this thesis was to study the implementation and evaluation of air flow and heat transfer routines, in order to allow a better understanding of thermal and ventilation performance in buildings. Simulation routines were developed, focusing on the methods of predicting air infiltration and ventilation processes and multi-mode heat transfer within and between different building structures. The simulation routines were implemented in a new building simulation tool entitled BUS++ and various tests were conducted to validate the air flow and heat transfer routines.
