Abstract This booklet is aimed at health professionals in Britain who provide advice to new and expectant mothers. Contents: duties of employers under the Management of Safety at Work Regulations 1999 (see CIS 02-1507); medical statement when work adjustments are required; maternity certificate; adjusting the working conditions to the pregnancy-related medical conditions (high blood pressure); alternate work in the case of risky conditions (physical or chemical hazards, biological agents; difficult working conditions); rest facilities; night work; impact on maternity rights of issuing a medical statement.
