Abstract These Regulations were introduced under the authority of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 1989 (see CIS 02-1504), and they transpose into Irish legislation the provisions of Directive 93/103/EEC (CIS 94-759). They provide for the minimum health and safety requirements applicable to work on fishing vessels, and set out the duties of owners in this regard, including duties related to information, training, instruction and consultation of workers. Schedules: requirements for new and for existing fishing vessels; requirements for life-saving and survival equipment; requirements concerning personal protective equipment.
