Bibliographic information July-Aug. 2001, Vol.92, No.4, p.272-280. 15 ref.
Abstract The Maghreb countries are Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia. This article describes the organization of occupational medicine in these countries, as well as the systems of protection for workers and of OSH training prevalent in them. Relevant socio-economic and demographic data are also covered, as are legal aspects, epidemiological data and information on the organization of occupational medicine training. In Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia there has been progress in this discipline, although problems persist. Just as in the European Union, cooperation among the Maghreb countries in the area of occupational medicine seems indispensable.
