Abstract This monograph presents the views and expert opinions of an IARC working group which met in Lyon, France, 9-16 October 2001 on the evaluation of carcinogenic risks to humans of man-made vitreous fibres. Special-purpose glass fibres such as E-glass and 475-glass, as well as refractory ceramic fibres were rated 2B (possibly carcinogenic in humans); insulation glass wool, continuous glass filaments, rock wool and slag wool were rated 3 (not classifiable as to their carcinogenicity in humans).
