Abstract The objective of this project was to analyse the occupational safety and health hazards in automobile repair shops due to harmful substances that could be addressed through technical support from automobile industry manufacturers. Four aspects were evaluated: reducing exposure to harmful substances during vehicle maintenance; reducing exposure to carbon monoxide in vehicle repair shops; support with respect to harmful substances. The project enabled the highlighting of conditions under which effective support from the automobile industry manufacturers was possible, and discusses requirements for the effective management of such cooperation projects.
