Abstract In most developed countries, skin diseases are the second most frequent type of occupational disease, after musculoskeletal diseases. The main causal factor is exposure to chemicals. The most frequent diseases are irritation or caustic contact dermatitis, followed by eczema. Contents: generalities and definitions; epidemiology; basic notions of skin biology and pathophysiology; socio-professional levels (occupations at risk); compensation; prevention; regulations that apply to skin hygiene and protection products.
