Title Association between job stress and depression among Japanese employees threatened by job loss in a comparison between two complementary job-stress models
Bibliographic information Apr. 2001, Vol.27, No.2, p.146-153. 34 ref.
Abstract Results of a questionnaire survey of neuropsychic stress among employees threatened by job loss in a small Japanese manufacturing plant. Employees with supportive tasks were more likely to have depressive symptoms than direct assembly-line workers. Despite some limitations, the study provides evidence of significant associations between theoretically grounded measures of job stress and depression in a sample of employees facing job loss. Intensified preventive efforts should be undertaken by those who hold the responsibility for occupational health for such vulnerable groups.
