IT equipment to strengthen Department of Labour

Equipment to support the operation of the Department of Labour and Industrial Relations Institutes (IRIs) provided by ILO’s Norwegian-funded FRLR Project.

Equipment to support the operation of the Department of Labour and Industrial Relations Institutes (IRIs) provided by ILO’s Norwegian-funded Promoting Fundamental Rights and Labour Relations in Export Oriented Industries in Bangladesh (FRLR) Project was handed over at a ceremony held in Dhaka 19 May 2016.

The equipment included computers, laptops, printers, scanners, projectors and photocopiers. Also provided were furniture and other items for the IRIs at Khulna and Tongi.

The equipment will help the Department of Labour and Industrial Relations Institutes more effectively carry out their mandates and will support a range of actions carried out by the FRLR project to build the capacity of the organizations.

Taking part in the ceremony were Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Mr Mikail Shipar, Director of Labour S M Ashrafuzzaman, Inspector General of the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) Mr Syed Ahmed, President of the National Coordination Council for Workers Education (NCCWE) Alhaj Shukur Mahmud, ILO Bangladesh Country Director Mr Srinivas Reddy as well as officials from the Department of Labour and union representatives.
