RMG regulatory bodies look to improve information management collaboration

A technical workshop was held in Dhaka 20 September 2015 aimed at enhancing collaboration between and improving the information and knowledge management systems of key RMG sector regulatory oversight authorities.


Organised by the ILO’s improving working conditions in the readymade garment sector programme funded by Canada, the Netherlands and the UK the event was attended by representatives of the Department of Inspections for Factories and Establishments (DIFE), the Fire Service and Civil Defence Department (FSCD), RAJUK the Department of Labour (DoL), BGMEA, BKMEA and trade unions.

The event was part of a process that seeks to help the regulatory agencies operate more effectively, share information and knowledge as well as drive accountability and transparency. Participants worked together to gain a better understanding of existing and proposed information and management systems for DIFE, DoL, FSCD and RAJUK in relation to RMG sector. They also prioritized areas for system development and considered a timeframe for development and implementation.
