The programme also marked the launching of a RMG Sector Database of 3497 ready-made garment factories in Bangladesh. Hon’ble State Minister for Labour and Employment, Mr. Mujibul Haque formally launched the website and the database.

The aim of the website is to enhance visibility and ensure information dissemination about the activities and goals of the ‘Department of Inspection of Factories and Establishment.’ This step comes as an endorsing step towards fulfilling the commitments made under the National Tripartite Action Plan. International Labour Organization provided key support in the preparation of the website and the factory database.

“Launching of the website of the Department of Inspection of Factories and Establishment’ and the database of RMG Sector is a milestone in achieving the commitments of the National Tripartite Plan of Action. This is only the beginning and I hope that gradually more information on RMG Sector will be incorporated in the database,” said Mr. Srinivas B Reddy, Country Director, ILO Bangladesh, at the inauguration ceremony.
