Project level Immediate Objective

• Improved national legislation on the worst forms of child labour to bring them into compliance with international standards.
• Improved monitoring and enforcement of laws and policies related to the worst forms of child labour.
• Adoption and implementation of the national plan of action on child labour, including its worst forms.
• Improved implementation of local/national social protection mechanisms for the children engaged in WFCL and/or vulnerable to child labour, towards preventing and reducing child labour, including its worst forms.

Output

• Recommendation Report on legal instruments that can address child labor in domestic work handed over to the Ministry of Labour to include revisions into circulars and policy documents.
• NSC members trained on CL monitoring and reporting.
• 25 district coordinators trained on CL and CL free zone district model guidelines.
• Work plan on implementation of the CL free district model in all 25 districts and estates in Sri Lanka developed jointly by District Secretaries and CLEAR project team.
• Child Activity survey report 2016 (CAS) disseminated among stake holders including 25 District Secretary offices
• The National Policy on Elimination of Child labour in Sri Lanka launched in September 2017
• Established coordination mechanisms among the Ministries of Labour, Education, Skill Development and Vocational Training on ways to return children of unpaid family work to education and vocational training.
• Children in CSE research report developed and will be launched in 1st quarter 2019.
• Labour Inspectorate developed to monitor child labour inspection.
