April 2016

  1. Mapping of the Skills Assessment Procedures, Certification Standards and Equivalencies between Sri Lanka and UAE & Kuwait - in identified occupations of the construction industry.

    The main objective of the study is to apply standards of selected countries of destination for testing potential migrant workers in identified testing centres that are registered and reliable and reach agreements on joint minimum standards for skills certification and recognition in the construction sector.

  2. World Day for Safety and Health at Work

    The ILO, together with the Ministry of Labour, National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC) and trade unions will commemorate the World Day for Safety and Health at Work on the 28th of April in Colombo.

  3. National Vocational Qualification certificate awards ceremony, Batticaloa

    19 April 2016

    Under European Union funding, ILO join hands with NAITA to award formal NVQ certification to 116 skilled workers to strengthen human resource capacity in Batticaloa.

  4. Child Labour Implementing Partners Capacity Building Workshop

    8 April 2016

    In 2010 at the Global Child Labour Conference at The Hague, Netherlands, Sri Lanka made a commitment to help achieve a country free of the worst forms of child labour by 2016. To give effect to this commitment, Sri Lanka is now implementing a “Road Map for the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour” developed with the assistance of ILO to reach zero tolerance of child labour by the end of 2016. The ILO Project on Elimination of Child Labour in Sri Lanka is supporting the government to achieve this national goal.

  2. Launch of the employers’ national network of youth initiatives (ENNYI)

    To facilitate this process, ENNYI has created a common portal www.empowerme.lk for both employers as well as undergraduates/graduate students from Universities in Sri Lanka in order to make full use of the prospects. Our objective is to help save resources that would have otherwise been spent by both stakeholder in achieving these common objectives.

  5. High Level South Asian Forum for Employers - Networking Meeting
