  1. New safety and health issues emerge as the world of work changes

    27 June 2019

    The ILO Country Office for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, together with the Ministry of Labour and Trade Union Relations, Department of Labour, National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC) and trade unions will hold an event on Occupational Safety and Health at work on the 27th of June in Colombo.

    The ILO Country Office for Sri Lanka and the Maldives in collaboration with the Department of Labour conducted a one-day workshop on 8th April 2019 to revisit the existing draft National Labour Inspection Policy for Sri Lanka

  2. ILO supports the Department of Labour in conducting a business process review of the dispute settlement system

    5 - 6 April 2019

    ILO in collaboration with the Department of Labour will conduct a 2 day workshop from 5-6 April 2019 to review the existing Dispute Resolution Mechanisms with a view to streamlining the current processes (including the gender dimension) in delivering more effective and efficient advisory services and improving responsiveness.

    The ILO Country Office with the Department of Labour (DoL), will conduct a two day training programme in Colombo for 50 Labour Officers across the country from 5- 6th March 2019.

    The training programmes will be held in Palindanuwara Divisional Secretariat Division in Kalutara district and Ratnapura district in Elapatha Divisional Secretariat Division. targeting 100 vulnerable MSMEs

  1. ‘New Trends in Social Security’

    21 - 22 January 2019

    On the request of the Employees Trust Fund Board (ETFB), the ILO Country office for Sri Lanka and Maldives will conduct a training programme for officials of the ETFB between 21-22 January 2019, which will focus on social security reforms in India; extending social security to organised and unorganised workers in India; and learning from those experiences.

    The ILO in Sri Lanka, in collaboration with Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE), organised a pop-up street theatre performance in honour of International Migrants day on 18 December 2018.

  2. Business Continuity Management Training for Government Officers working with MSMEs in Ratnapura and Kalutara Districts

    10 - 14 December 2018

    The first training programme will be held in the Kalutara district targeting government officers who work with the MSME sector. The two day programme will be held on the 10th and 14th of December in the Garden Beach Hotel, Kalutara.
