In addition, it will also give an opportunity for the ILO to explain its convention on wage fixation and share experiences of other countries in national wage fixation.

The survey was conducted by Prof Sunil Chandrasiri together with representatives from the Employer Federation of Ceylon (EFC) and covered 50 firms representing eight major economic sectors of the national economy with a coverage of 49,153 employees.

The workshop will bring together representatives of government ministries and Departments, employers’ organizations, private sector organizations and trade unions and academics and will provide the opportunity for the social partners to formulate a way forward mechanism and have a more responsible and a focused strategy in national wage fixation.
