Training Workshop on Work Adjustment for Recycling and Management of Waste

The Waste Management Authority of the Western Province of Sri Lanka in partnership with the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) of the Ministry of Labour and Labour Relations conducted the last in a series of 7 workshops to train 300 lead trainers in Work Adjustment for Recycling and Management of Waste.

The final workshop was extended to all workers within the Pohorawatte zone to mark the occasion of World OSH Day which falls on 28th April. The Event took the form of a health clinic for over 100 workers in the waste sector followed by the final TOT for 60 of them. The Event is technically supported by the ILO Green Jobs in Asia Project (Sri Lanka chapter) and funded by the ILO-Australia Government Partnership Programme (2010-2015). The 300 trainers who received training will reach out to 4,000 field workers through 48 cascading training programmes, also funded by the ILO-Australia partnership programme.
