Train the Trainer (TOT) workshop on Capacity Building of Labour Inspectors on Effective and Modern Labour Inspection Strategies
Sri Lanka has embarked to recruit 300 new inspectors. The Inspectors need to be provided with induction training and on the job training on planning, programming and evaluation of inspections. The training programme focussed on imparting practical skills to the trainers in order to be able to develop capacity within the new labour inspectors in order to ensure compliance of the labour law in Sri Lanka.
Training of Trainers for Building a Modern and Effective Labour Administration and Inspection Systems in Sri Lanka
Background:
In the framework of the Project on Promoting Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work in Sri Lanka, funded by the USDOL, and following the agreed work programme and recent discussions with the Ministry of Labour and Labour Relations in Sri Lanka and considering the need to support effective promotion of Labour Inspection among the primary practitioners the training is proposed.
The international consultant will assist in delivering training to officials of the Department of Labour on (a) effective methodologies of labour Inspection and identify best practices of the said subject and (b) help develop a cadre of skilled practitioners within the DOL for the effective promotion and implementation of Labour Inspection.
Objectives of the training:
1. Develop a core cadre of trainers and practitioners on labour inspection within the ranks of the DOL.
2. To share good practices on labour inspection among the core cadre;
3. To develop a training strategy that will lead to a more sustained labour inspection training framework.
Participants
