    ILO Office partnering with the Ministry of Labour and Trade Union Relations conducted a consultation on 24th March 2016 with their tripartite constituents to introduce the Country Level Engagement and Cooperation to Reduce Child Labour (CLEAR) Project in Sri Lanka.

  4. The Employers' Federation of Ceylon launches its employers' national network of youth initiatives (ENNYI)

    The main objective of the ENNYI is to provide a window for undergraduates into the real world of work through internships offered by the EFC’s member companies. These include leading corporates in the country as well as multi-national companies.

    The Ministry of Labour and Trade Union Relations, together with the International Labour Organization (ILO), organized the first Symposium on Sustainable Development Goals and Decent Work on the 11th December 2015 in Colombo.

  4. ILO Organizes National Consultation prior to 8th Global Forum on Migration and Development

    International Labour Organization’s Country Office for Sri Lanka and the Maldives conducted a consultation among a wide range of stakeholders in the labour migration sector, on 12th October 2015, in Colombo, to draft recommendations to be shared by the Sri Lankan delegation at the Global Forum on Migration and Development, in Istanbul, Turkey.

  6. Award Winning Actress Joins ILO to Boost Young People's Awareness

    COLOMBO (ILO News) - The International Labour Organization (ILO) on September 5 and 10 2015, supported two Career and Entrepreneur Job fairs by way of sponsoring and endorsement. EDEX Mid-year Expo held in Colombo, attracted over ten thousands young visitors. The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce ‘Careerlead’ was organised at the Rajarata University in the Anuradhapura district, attracting over four thousand students from several districts in the north and east. Overall, both job fairs gathered the participation of over one hundred reputed companies across a number of sectors. Students and youth were offered the opportunity to receive actual career guidance while being presented with direct recruitment opportunities and with information on ILO’s activities, notably those related with labour rights and responsibilities for youth in the workplace.

  7. VTASL and ILO join hands to introduce labour market oriented vocational training in North and East

    Under the European Union Support for District Development Programme (EU-SDDP) ILO has entered into an agreement with Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka (VTASL) on 4th September 2015 to introduce labour market oriented skills training and to improve delivery capacity of selected vocational training centres in Vavuniya, Mannar, Batticaloa and Ampara districts.
