  4. Report on Child Activity Survey 2016 of Sri Lanka Launched

    The Department of Census and Statistics (DCS) in Sri Lanka launched the report of the Child Activity Survey (CAS) 2016 on 21st of February, 2017. The survey was conducted at the request of the Ministry of Labour and Trade Union Relations. International Labour Organization (ILO) provided technical assistance and the United States Department of Labour financially supported to conduct this country-wide household survey in 2016.

  5. Fair Trade Certification for Red Lady Papaya: Vavuniya North Fruit Growers Cooperative achieves another landmark.

    Vavuniya North Fruit Growers Cooperative Union has achieved a major milestone by becoming the First Cooperative in Sri Lanka and probably the first organization in South Asia to be Fair Trade Certified for Red Lady papaya. The certification process was carried out by the Global Certifying Body for Fair Trade- FLOCERT.

  2. Norway and ILO partner to support for livelihood opportunities to the conflict affected communities

    Norway and International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Sri Lanka have signed a partnership agreement on 22 November to extend the Government of Norway’s support to the conflict affected communities in the North. The project will address the immediate needs of decent work and livelihood opportunities at the grass root level in the conflict affected Northern Districts.

  7. ILO supported flood affected families

    The recent floods and landslides in Sri Lanka have affected 340,150 people according to information from the Government of Sri Lanka Disaster Management Centre, 84 people were died and 116 people were missing.
