A new three-year project to tackle child labour through education (TACKLE) has been launched in Jamaica. The project will be implemented by the Government, social partners and other stakeholders under the auspices of the International Labour Organization with financial support from the European Commission.

Caribbean labour training institutions to benefit from ILO training on globalization and international labour standards

The course targets labour training institutions in the region, including labour colleges as well as trade unions and employers' organizations offering structured training programmes. It aims to enhance the knowledge of participants on international labour standards, their relevance in the context of globalization and how they can be used by governments and social partners to respond to the social and labour challenges associated with globalization.

The report provides information on workers' experiences, particularly women, of negotiating work and family responsibilities and implications for gender equality and poverty in Trinidad and Tobago. It uses data, interviews and policy reviews to examine major trends and issues as well as offers recommendations for action, including measures to be taken by the government, employers and trade unions.

The Round Table will contribute to the public discourse on the Economic Partnership Agreement and the CSME, and allow trade unions to gain a better insight into the characteristics of the CSME and the provisions and implications of the EPA
