The ILO and World Bank’s (WB) technical team engaged in two discussion sessions, 31 January 2023 and 7 February 2023, on BOOST+ Programme and women entrepreneurship with a country specific focus on work in Belize. In attendance were ILO’s Specialists John Bliek, Enterprise, Cooperatives and Rural Development; Joana Borges Henriques, Social Protection and Occupational Safety and Health; Pamela Bradley, ILO’s National Project Coordinator, Building a Resilient Belize Through Universal, Adaptive and Sustainable Social Protection, and from the World Bank, Marina Petrovis, Senior Social Protection Specialist, accompanied by Briana Wilson, Malin Ed, and Polly Jones.

A wealth of information exchanges took place including key findings and information on the assessment of a potential Social Protection Information System, process and outcome evaluation report and the Joint SDG Fund: Building a resilient Belize through universal, adaptive and sustainable social protection. In addition, participants had a deeper dialogue on ILO’s tested tools and approaches to develop interventions to support women's entrepreneurship, organized groups, cooperatives, and the most vulnerable.

The ILO and WB reviewed their approach to continue complementing their efforts to coordinate and collaborate at the national level within these areas of expertise, with approaches to support the Government of Belize with their social protection system. This support is aligned within the Government of Belize’s Plan - Belize Medium Term Development Strategy 2022-2026 - with UN Multi-Country Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2022-2026, and the context of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
