Moldova honey cooperative makes a beeline towards success

Cahul district, in the south of the Republic of Moldova. Moldova is still the poorest country in Europe, and if you live in the rural communities of Cahul, chances are finding work locally will be a tough call. Especially if you are young or a woman, engaging in domestic or informal work is what you can do at best. The local economy does not offer decent employment opportunities, so it is quite typical to move abroad in search of well-paying work. Despite being economically deprived, Cahul is a real treasure trove. The rich and ecologically pure flora, sunny and mild weather all year round provide every condition for the production of high quality honey. For a group of locals and their families, beekeeping has proven to be a viable source of income generation and livelihood.
