World Day of Social Justice in Moldova

The International Labour Organization (ILO) is organizing an event together with other UN Agencies to mark the World Day of Social Justice on 19 February 2016 in Chisinau, in the Republic of Moldova.

The UN General Assembly proclaimed 20 February as World Day of Social Justice in 2007, inviting Member States to devote the day to promoting national activities. Observance of World Day of Social Justice should support efforts of the international community in poverty eradication, the promotion of full employment and decent work, gender equity and access to social well-being and justice for all.

The event in Chisinau will focus on UN contribution to promote social justice and Sustainable Development Goals in the Republic of Moldova.

The main topics include:
  • Presentation of the New Decent Work Country Programme of Moldova for 2016-2020 followed by its official signature ceremony (ILO);
  • Informal economy from the perspectives of Sustainable Development Goals (ILO);
  • Results of the evaluation of the Employment Strategy of Moldova 2007-2015 (UNDP);
  • Employment experiences of persons with disabilities and risks in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (OHCHR);
  • Employment opportunities for refugees: problems and solutions (UNHCR);
  • Employment opportunities for women: challenges and ways out (UN Women).
